Madeleine

Madeleine seeks to open up matter and observe its interior, to bring together and stitch pieces of reality, to live dance as the closest instrument to that which remains unspoken, that which bodies emanate and places conceal.

Drawing inspiration from the famous passage of the madeleine by Marcel Proust, in which a sudden, vivid, and involuntary memory is evoked by tasting a madeleine dipped in tea, Stefania Tansini investigates how sensory experiences can collapse past and present, reawakening untamed bodies. Through this lens, the three presences become instruments capable of revealing the overlap and dissolution of hidden realities and temporalities. Madeleine, as La Maddalena, is also an ambiguous figure, both sacred and profane, who disrupts the established order. At the core of the project lies Tansini’s distinctive physical language: an exploration of the body asan unstable and transformative organism. Her work draws the audience into a state of heightened perception, where what appears ordinary becomes charged with intimacy and intensity. An experience that exists between the raw and the refined, between the formal and the wild, continuously assembling and reassembling fragments of the surrounding world: distances, colors, silences, absences, noises, voices, skins. Moments of lucidity and formal clarity give way to moments of dissolution, creating the sensation of being anchored in the present while at the same time slipping into a space beyond ordinary time.Madeleine seeks to open up matter and observe its interior, to bring together and stitch pieces of reality, to live dance as the closest instrument to that which remains unspoken, that which bodies emanate and places conceal.
