L’ombelico dei limbi

Playwright, actor, and theorist, among the most influential theatre figures of the twentieth century, Antonin Artaud wrote L’ombelico dei limbi before the age of thirty. Published in 1925, the volume brings together a series of hybrid texts in which many of the themes later developed in his subsequent writings already emerge: alienation from the world, the creation of a new language, and the pain of a fragmented identity.

It is from this work that Stefania Tansini’s performance takes shape, through a staging conceived ad hoc for each presentation space, where body and voice become lucid testimony to the anguish of reality — a living, fleshly presence.

A performative journey that questions the relationship between things, stripping both space and body bare, unfolding through a contradictory tension: on the one hand, the desire to break free, to fall apart, to remain outside the world; on the other, the longing for reconstruction and for sharing the torment of the body.
